Ring Fit Adventure is out today on Nintendo Switch

Nintendo’s new exercise role-playing game Ring Fit Adventure launches today on the Switch.

In the game, you’ll explore a fantasy adventure world and burn calories while defeating a bodybuilding dragon using real-life exercises. It’s sort of like Wii Fit, except there’s an actual game here and not just a series of on-screen exercises.

The game comes with two new accessories: the Ring-Con and Leg Strap. Together, they measure your actual real-life movements and turn them into in-game actions. The game and necessary accessories are bundled together. They retail for $79.99.

According to Nintendo, the adventure mode will have you traverse more than 100 levels in over 20 different worlds. In addition to the adventure mode, Ring Fit Adventure also includes minigames and customizable workout routines.

“As you work through each level (and possibly work up a sweat), you’ll earn experience points. Between fights, you may encounter some unusual methods of transportation such as squat-powered launch pads,” the company says.

Reviewers are praising the game’s ability to make exercise fun. It is currently averaging a 77 out of 100 on review aggregator OpenCritic.
