Samurai Shodown coming to Switch Feb. 25; pre-orders include Samurai Shodown 2

SNK today announced the release date for the Nintendo Switch version of Samurai Shodown and a pre-order deal that includes the Neo Geo Pocket classic Samurai Shodown 2 for free.

The fighting game will be available on February 25 for Nintendo Switch in North America. Pre-orders for a physical copy also include a controller skin featuring Haohmaru and Yashamaru. The game will retail for $49.99.

Samurai Shodown‘s upcoming release on the Nintendo Switch will mark the first time the series will be available on a Nintendo console in over 10 years,” says Yasuyuki Oda, the game’s lead producer. “Fighting game fans will soon be able to pass a Joy-Con to an unsuspecting rival and unleash their fury anywhere around the world.”

Samurai Shodown is a reboot of SNK’s fighting series. The reboot was released in June 2019 on PS4 and Xbox One to positive reviews from critics. It is currently averaging an 80 out of 100 at OpenCritic. 84 percent of critics recommended the PS4 and Xbox One version.
