Sea of Thieves tops 10 million players on PC and Xbox One

Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves recently passed 10 million players across PC and Xbox One, according to developer Rare.

“It’s mind-blowing to think of that many people setting sail on the Sea of Thieves, and it’s all been made possible by the support and passion of our fantastic community,” says Joe Neate, the executive producer of the game at developer Rare. Neate calls Sea of Thieves “the most successful new IP from Xbox this generation.”

A free update will go live on January 15 for players across both platforms. Titled Legends of the Seas, the update will feature two limited-edition gifts as a thank you to fans to celebrate the 10 million player milestone. Players will need to log in between January 15 and 22 to claim their gift.

“Once again, on behalf of everyone at Rare, I’d like to say thank you to everyone who’s been on this journey with us so far. The best news is that we’re just getting started and have big plans for the coming year. See you on the seas!” Neate added.

Sea of Thieves is an action-adventure game where players take on the role of a pirate. You can either play solo or with a crew of up to four players in both co-op and PvP.

Released in March 2018 on PC and Xbox One, the game features cross-play between the two platforms. It is available as part of Xbox Game Pass.
