Sega Genesis classic Gynoug coming to PS4, Xbox One, and Switch

Gynoug

Following the well-received Gleylancer launch comes Gynoug, a new challenge on modern consoles for retro gaming fans.

Ratalaika Games has announced the return of another classic game from the 1990s. Following the successful release of Gleylancer, a game we featured, Ratalaika Games will release Gynoug. If you’re not familiar, it’s a 1991 classic shooter with a remastered version suited to modern times. The game was known as Wings of Wor in North America.

A shooter with the essence of the 8/16-bit era

Originally published on the Sega Mega Drive, American fans of this shooter beast, known as Wings of Wor, will soon be able to play this must-have title on the newest systems alongside everyone else. This heavyweight is jam-packed with action and mayhem that will have you glued to your displays. At first sight, it may appear to be just another horizontal scrolling, search and raise hell game, yet the playability and difficulty are unparalleled.

Despite being a game that jumps right into the action, the plot in this game, originally produced by Masaya, is highly intriguing, as we shall see how it substantially influences the game’s setting.

The Earth has been destroyed by a virus that has altered and evolved into a race of the most terrifying creatures known to man. They are the Iccus Mutants, lead by the dreadful Destroyer. Many people have fought mutants before you… and many of them have failed.

It’s now your turn. You must fly and battle for the existence of your planet from the darkest dungeons of Iccus to the beast’s guts! It will not be easy… yet the finest battles are never easy. If you destroy the Destroyer, Iccus will be rescued and its skies will be restored.

Gynoug will be available digitally on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on November 12. It is also backward compatible on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
