Shiren the Wanderer

Spike Chunsoft today released Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate on PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch.

Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate was originally released only in Japan as a Nintendo DS title back in 2010. An expanded version got released on the PlayStation Vita. That version eventually made its way to the US and Europe.

The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate is the fifth entry in the mainline Shiren the Wanderer series. The series is known for its beautiful retro-style graphics and classic roguelike gameplay.

As we’ve previously reported, the PC and Nintendo Switch versions have new content. Aside from new dungeons, there is also a music collection to listen to tunes at any time. A new live display provides a UI option designed specifically for live streaming. It displays your status, items, equipment, abilities, gameplay time, and turns spent in the dungeon.

Lastly, the wanderer rescue system lets you request help from other players when you collapse in a dungeon. The ranking system tracks top dungeon scores and rescue attempts. This time around, the system connects all adventurers around the world, regardless of language or region settings. Plus, there is an option to filter these features with player language settings.

At the moment, the game is only available digitally in the United States. Limited Run Games is releasing a physical edition on Nintendo Switch at a later date. If you don’t want to wait, a Japanese multi-language physical edition is available at Playasia.
