Side-scrolling beat ’em up Coffee Crisis getting physical limited edition on PS4

Coffee Crisis

Four years after debuting on the Sega Genesis – yes, Sega’s 16-bit console from the late ’80s and early ’90s – Coffee Crisis is out now on PS4 and Switch.

If you’re unfamiliar with it, Coffee Crisis is a side-scrolling beat ’em up centered around a team of baristas, Nick and Ashley. The latte-drinking duo are armed with nothing more than sacks of coffee beans as they face an alien invasion.

Back in 2016, the title had a successful Kickstarter campaign. It proved popular with retro game collectors looking for a new game to add to their beloved Sega Genesis collections. The PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions bring the side-scrolling action and retro style to a wider audience.

For retro gamers who want an espresso-shot of Coffee Crisis, there’s also a Collector’s Edition that will soon be available on PS4. It features a boxed copy of the game, a physical instruction manual, joystick grips, an alien pin, a physical soundtrack, and a stickers set.

The physical limited edition does not have a release date yet. All we know is that it is coming “soon,” according to a press representative. Unfortunately, the US version is not yet available for pre-order either. Sorry!

However, if you live in Europe, the PS4 version is available for pre-order at Play-Asia. It will launch on June 26. Meanwhile, Europeans already have a limited edition Switch version.
