Skald: Against the Black Priory retro-inspired RPG coming to PC in 2022

Skald: Against the Black Priory

A free playable prologue is now available through Steam and GOG.

Raw Fury and indie developer Anders Lauridse have partnered up to deliver the final edition of Skald: Against the Black Priory on PC via Steam and GOG. This Norwegian indie developer is bringing their dream project to life with a retro-style RPG set in a dark fantasy world filled with tragic heroes, brutal deaths, and Lovecraftian terror.

A retro-inspired RPG

Skald: Against the Black Priory is a retro-styled role-playing game with a fully formed story and an authentic 8-bit appearance and feel. Adventurers can enter an extensive fantasy scenario packed with terrifying monsters and memorable personalities in this game. Discover the nefarious secrets of Skald through finely designed pixel-art visuals and multiple-choice dialogue as you explore hand-crafted landscapes and fight in dramatic turn-based battles.

The Discord community behind the game, which was formed thanks to the free prologue available on Steam, has been assisting Anders Lauridsen with the addition of additional features, scenarios, and content to the game. Because it is a small niche game and difficult to impress fans of vintage RPGs, the Norwegian developer made a sensible decision.

“Forming a party with Raw Fury allows me to take my dream project to the next level,” said Lauridsen. “Skald is going full sail ahead now, and I can’t wait to bring my amazing community something that will both bring back warm memories as well as create new ones for years to come!”

In 2022, Skald: Against the Black Priory will be released on PC via Steam and GOG. If you’re interested in giving the game a try, you can get the free prologue on Steam.
