The announcement was made through a video on YouTube and Twitter.

Polyphony Digital has unveiled a new initiative in collaboration with Sony AI, the company’s section dedicated to artificial intelligence research and development. The 9th of February will reveal what this creative initiative entails, as well as whether or not it is linked to Gran Turismo 7.

Polyphony Digital’s new project

The Gran Turismo account has shocked us today, releasing a teaser in which we can see key parts of this new project that are closely related to the PlayStation driving game. It’s especially surprising considering that just last week Sony broadcast a Gran Turismo 7 State of Play.

Meanwhile, Sony AI’s Twitter account said in a post that their “Gaming Flagship” will be unveiled on the 9th of this month, calling the initiative a “breakthrough project” developed in partnership with both the GT development studio and Sony Interactive Entertainment.

If we look at all of the information we’ve had about Gran Turismo 7 since its debut, it appears that this new project is linked to Polyphony Digital’s new game. This is because Kazunori Yamauchi, the franchise’s CEO and producer, stated that the latest iteration will have a higher level of AI complexity, making Gran Turismo the most realistic simulator on the market.

Gran Turismo 7 launches on March 4 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Pre-orders are open now.
