During today’s PS5 reveal event, Sony showed off the hardware design of its next-generation console. They also announced that there will be two models at launch.
The DualSense controller design – which was shown off in April – gave us a hint at the direction of the console itself. As you can see in the image above, the console and controller have a matching black and white color palette.
That’s not all, though. Sony actually announced two different models. The first PlayStation 5 console includes a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive. Meanwhile, the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition does not include the disc drive. The design is slightly different, but the gameplay experience is the same.
Left out of the presentation are some key details. We don’t know, for instance, a specific launch date. Critically, we still do not know the price, either. The latter could be a deal-breaker for many consumers, especially with the recent economic downturn.
