Sony unveils DualSense, the PlayStation 5 controller

DualSense

In a surprise announcement Tuesday afternoon, Sony revealed the controller for their upcoming PS5 console. They’re calling it DualSense.

“After thoughtful consideration, we decided to keep much of what gamers love about DualShock 4 intact, while also adding new functionality and refining the design,” the company said on the PlayStation Blog.

The DualSense controller has a two-toned black and white design. The light bar has been moved to either side of the touchpad, which is still at the center of the controller. It also comes with a built-in microphone, so you won’t need a headset.

“In all, we went through several concepts and hundreds of mockups over the last few years before we settled on this final design,” Sony says. “DualSense has been tested by a wide range of gamers with a variety of hand sizes, in order for us to achieve the comfort level we wanted, with great ergonomics.”

As we’ve previously reported, the PS5 controller supports haptic feedback and trigger resistance. You can read more about the DualSense controller over at the PlayStation Blog!
