Spencer claims Xbox Series X and S had ‘biggest’ launch in Microsoft’s history

Xbox Series X and S launch news

The Xbox Series X and S just launched this week. Apparently, it’s already breaking company records.

“Thank you for supporting the largest launch in Xbox history. In 24 hours more new consoles sold, in more countries, than ever before. We’re working with retail to resupply as quickly as possible. You continue to show us the connective power of play is more important than ever,” Xbox boss Phil Spencer wrote on Twitter.

It’s worth noting that Spencer did not get any more specific than that. Microsoft also did not release specific sales figures, and Spencer has previously downplayed the value of sales numbers. So there’s a bit of a mismatch in their messaging.

“We publicly disclose player numbers. That’s the thing I want us to be driven by, not how many individual pieces of plastic did we sell,” Spencer told The Guardian yesterday.

Xbox Series X|S launched on November 10. Meanwhile, Sony’s rival console, the PS5, is out today. Be sure to keep following us for more Xbox Series X launch news!
