Nintendo announced today that a large update to the game will be released on August 5 packed with two new game modes, new weapons, new gear options, and an increase to the level cap.

Squad Battle will allow you to create a squad with your friends and head into Ranked Battle modes together. You will also be able to join a Private Battle with up to seven other friends in custom matches. You will also be able to hold small custom tournaments.

The new weapons include the Slosher and the Heavy Splatling.

“Use the bucket-like Slosher to hurl ink with impressive range, or use the Heavy Splatling to charge up to six barrels of ink and blast away,” Nintendo writes in a blog post.

As for the level cap, you can now reach up to level 50 in Turf War, and reach ranks of S and S+ in Ranked Battle.

More updates are planned throughout the summer and fall with at least one more game mode announced so far.
