Star Wars: Squadrons launches today

Star Wars: Squadrons

Electronic Arts has announced the release of Star Wars: Squadrons on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Squadrons has both a single-player campaign and online multiplayer modes. The campaign features an original story set after the events of the classic Star Wars: Return of the Jedi film.

In a neat twist, the campaign lets you play as two different combat pilots. You’ll fly for both the Empire and the New Republic. This isn’t the first Star Wars game that lets you play from the Empire’s perspective, but it’s a welcome addition nonetheless.

In multiplayer, the game lets you take control of everything from an X-wing to a TIE fighter in 5 versus 5 online multiplayer dog fights. You are able to modify your ships, too. There are at least 50 different components that you can swap in and out of your ship’s loadout before a match.

Star Wars: Squadrons is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Origin, Steam, and Epic Games Store. As previously mentioned, the PC and PS4 versions have full VR support.

My Take

I’ll admit that I geeked out when I first heard about Star Wars: Squadrons. As a fan of the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron series, it’s exciting to see a Star Wars-themed space shooter on modern hardware.
