Super Nintendo World opening delayed due to COVID restrictions

Super Nintendo World

Universal Studios Japan is delaying the opening of Super Nintendo World.

Previously scheduled to open on February 4, the Mario-themed section of Universal Studios Japan will see its grand opening at a yet-to-be-determined date. We’ve been following news about the park’s progress for over a year now. Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto recently toured the now-finished theme park.

The theme park’s grand opening is delayed due to a state of emergency declaration in Osaka Prefecture on January 13. The emergency declaration relates to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“We sincerely apologize to all the guests and stakeholders who are looking forward to the opening. The opening date will be decided and announced after the state of emergency is lifted,” Universal Studios Japan says.
