Target Pulls Manhunt 2 from Shelves

The ESRB gave Manhunt 2 an Adult-Only rating several months ago, delaying the game’s release because retailers do not carry games with that rating. In order to comply with retail standards, publisher Rockstar went back and altered the game to make it less grisly with its violence. Despite the changes, Great Britain banned the game before its release on October 31, 2007.

After reports of modded PlayStation Portables being able to play the game in its unaltered state without the blurred images of the gruesome violence, Target has pulled Manhunt 2 from their retail shelves. “Target strives to provide merchandise that will appeal to a wide variety of guests,” the Minneapolis-based retailer said. “We also want guests to be comfortable with the purchasing decisions they make at Target.”
