The Outer Worlds runs at 4K on PC and Xbox One X

The upcoming sci-fi role-playing game The Outer Worlds is coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One, but the game will only run at 4K resolution on PC and Xbox One X.

That’s according to a report from Windows Central. The PC and Xbox-centered site says that they reached out to the publisher, Private Division, and got this response: “4K on Xbox One, no enhancements for PS4 Pro.”

We have independently reached out to the publisher for confirmation. We’ll update this story if we receive a response.

UPDATE: Private Division responded to our request for clarification and pointed us to a tweet in which they say that the game will upsample to 4K on PS4 Pro. It will only run in native 4K on PC and Xbox One.

The Outer Worlds comes out on October 25. Microsoft purchased the game’s developer last year. Obsidian is now part of Xbox Game Studios.
