The Sims 4 is now free to play

You can play The Sims 4 for free. Electronic Arts made the permanent change this week.

Almost a decade after its release, The Sims 4 is still going strong with new content like My Wedding Stories, Cottage Living, and Snowy Escape. They’ve even released crossover content like The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu game pack.

The game just got its biggest change yet. It’s now free to play.

As we reported last month, the base game will go from costing $19.99 to being completely free on all platforms but with a system of microtransactions, expansions, and DLC. It’s a smart move since it will allow new players to join for free while capturing all of those extra dollars spent on digital furniture.

This should easily give The Sims 4 many more years on the market. It also extends the life of the game for existing players who can continue to expect new content.

The Sims 4 is free to play on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
