The Witcher Season 2 is coming to Netflix in December

The Witcher season 2

Geralt is back alongside Ciri for a new season of Netflix’s adaptation of The Witcher video games.

Netflix, in collaboration with CD Projekt, has revealed – via a new teaser that gives us a little taste of what’s to come – that the second season of The Witcher will be released in December exclusively on Netflix.

A new path faithful to the story of The Witcher

In the show, we get a new glimpse at the key characters from Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels, such as Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), Ciri (Freya Allan), and, as a last surprise, the bard Jaskier (Joey Batey).

“Destiny is a beast” is a phrase we can see in the video description on YouTube. It’s the new season’s slogan. Netflix leaves us as a clue of everything we can find in this second season of a series that surprised many with its first installment, both fans of the game and new people who were captivated by Geralt of Rivia’s story.

Unlike the previous season, the second season of The Witcher will convey its tale in a much more linear fashion with fewer time jumps. Different tones were used in Season 1, particularly in the short pieces Sapkowski’s Last Wish and Sword of Destiny.

The idea behind the production for the second season was to follow the same lines as last season, but the storylines are a bit more serious. So they relied on those darker themes, which match wonderfully with the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, who retains his unique sense of humor.

The Witcher‘s second season will launch on Netflix on December 17, 2021.
