There’s a NieR: Automata novel planned for 2020

Square Enix announced at Anime NYC that NieR: Automata is getting a new novel. Titled NieR: Automata YoRHa Boys, the book will be released in fall 2020.

NieR: Automata YoRHa Boys is being written by Jun Eishima. Eishima has previously worked on a number of Final Fantasy novellas. NieR: Automata director Yoko Taro is supervising the project.

The book takes place before the beginning of the post-apocalyptic action role-playing game. It focuses on the story of YoRHa Experimental Unit M, a squadron composed of YoRHa male type models established for the purpose of collecting a full range of behavioral data. The novel will also include artwork from famed Final Fantasy illustrator Toshiyuki Itahana.
