Top 10 Best Selling Nintendo Switch Games Revealed
In its latest financial filings, Nintendo revealed the latest Switch sales numbers.
The Nintendo Switch continues to sell like hotcakes – and so do the games. Nintendo says that it has sold 125.6 million Switch consoles since its launch in 2017. Last year alone, it sold almost 20 million consoles. But the top 10 best-selling Nintendo Switch games are what really got our attention.
The top 10 best-selling Nintendo Switch games may surprise you, at least the order they are in and the number of sales. The top ten list includes games like Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. In all, the top ten games all sold more than 15 million units each. Six of the games topped 25 million units sold.
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 53.79 million
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons – 42.21 million
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – 31.09 million
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – 29.81 million
- Pokemon Sword/Shield – 25.82 million
- Super Mario Odyssey – 25.76 million
- Pokemon Scarlet/Violet – 22.10 million
- Super Mario Party – 19.14 million
- New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe – 15.41 million
- Ring Fit Adventure – 15.38 million
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is now the top-selling game in the franchise. Mario Kart 8 sold 8.46 million copies on the Wii U, which is extremely impressive considering the Wii U had an install base of only 13.5 million worldwide. If you combine sales of the Wii U version with the Switch version, they total over 60 million. In comparison, Mario Kart DS sold 23.6 million units, Mario Kart Wii sold 37.38 million units, and Mario Kart 7 sold 18.98 million units.
