A game that was born thinking to be an expansion, but turned out to be a full game

Assassin’s Creed Mirage started as an expansion for the current game in the series: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. But, after months of development, the Assassin’s Creed Rift project took an unexpected turn. Although at the time, the developers were “open” about the development of a new expansion, it was never heard of again.

Rumor has it that it was during this time that the project went from being an expansion to a full game. This has already been discussed here at Game Freaks 365. Bloomberg’s renowned journalist Jason Schreier commented that Ubisoft was working on a new Assassin’s Creed title under the codename “Rift”.

That Schreier took the time to write about Rift already confirmed these rumors a bit. Therefore, it was only a matter of time before Ubisoft talked about it either by denying all these rumors with the announcement of the next game or finally confirming all those rumors.

A new adventure comes to the Assassin’s Creed history

After so long, finally, Ubisoft has spoken. Although in a very short and direct way, they have confirmed the next Assassin’s Creed game via Twitter. It’s called Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Following the theme previously shared by Schreier, Mirage will return to some extent to its roots.

Despite the confirmation, there has been no further official word on the title. This is because Ubisoft plans to finally announce full details of the game on September 10. This will be done through the Ubisoft Forward event. It’s an event where Ubisoft’s upcoming game news will be announced.

Even so, rumors have surfaced giving us a little information about the historical period where the game will possibly be set. The game will take place between the years 860 and 870, during the period of crisis known as ‘the anarchy of Samarra’. However, rumors can be true, or swings of the imagination. Therefore, we must wait to see what awaits us in Assassin’s Creed Mirage on September 10 at 9 PM CEST | 12PM PT.
