Valorant is a new Overwatch-like shooter from League of Legends developer Riot

Valorant

The League of Legends developer Riot Games today revealed a new first-person shooter called Valorant.

The new FPS will have heroes and a graphics style reminiscent of Overwatch. According to Riot Games, the game will be team-based with five players going up against five opponents.

We don’t yet know the platforms, but it is going to be released this summer as a free-to-play competitor to games like Activision Blizzard’s Overwatch and Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege. Is this the next big esport? Quite possibly!

That being said, it’s probably safe to assume a PC release, given Riot’s LoL history. We’d also bet on a PS4 and Xbox One launch, although – again – that has not been confirmed. More details will be released in the weeks ahead.

This is the first major game release from Riot Games in over ten years. In addition to Valorant, they are also planning to release three mobile titles on Android and iOS this year.
