Valve continues to drop hints of possible Counter-Strike 2 release

Trademarks, screenshots, and countless updates in CS:GO in the last week

CS:GO has been one of the most profitable games in the industry. A minimum average of 300k people play this title since September 2018! But for many years now, players have been waiting for a second edition. And after many rumors in the last month and certain movements, it may be that the release is just around the corner.

Valve has registered the brand name “Counter-Strike 2“. And if that wasn’t enough, more software companies have started to add processes or code lines referring to the possible release. But the most relevant thing, without a doubt, is the new image used by the official CS:GO Twitter account that could be confirming the arrival of the 5th title of the franchise.

Counter-Strike 2 is a reality?

Today, the multiplayer FPS genre is one of the most profitable in the industry. Over 1 billion in revenue is generated by this genre across all its titles on an annual basis. But, this genre is everything it is today thanks to franchises like Counter-Strike. And along with this success, there is a fan base that will always accompany the games of this saga. However, these fans are clamoring for a new installment of Counter-Strike.

Valve has always been very tight-lipped about its games. They try not to leak anything prior to the release of a game. Something that has always worked perfectly for them. But, since the release of Half-Life: Alyx this has changed. Prior to the release of this game, there were many leaks. In addition, Valve left evidence of this new game in CS:GO code lines. Something that, in its day, made Half-Life fans manage to find this new game prior to its announcement.

3 years later, it seems that Valve has done the same but with a new Counter-Strike game. Some time ago, “.exe” processes were found in NVIDIA drivers that gave a hint of a possible Counter-Strike 2. But, what seemed to be just a fan’s delirium for a new game, has been “confirmed” to possibly become a reality. This is all thanks to Valve registering the name Counte-Strike 2 in the CS franchise registration group.

However, the most real confirmation we can have so far is the banner on the official CS:GO Twitter. In the banner, we can see 5 TCs that could be referring to the franchise’s titles. At the moment there are only 4 official releases. Therefore, they could be letting us know that very soon we will be receiving the 5th title.

Although all are rumors, there are already too many movements in the back end by Valve that suggest this. Let’s hope that soon we will be able to officially confirm the launch.
