PlayStation gamers will soon have a new controller option. Sony just announced the DualSense Edge, a customizable wireless controller for PlayStation 5.

Here’s what you can expect from the new controller…

The Edge retains all of DualSense’s core features including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, a built-in microphone, and motion controls. In terms of new features, the Edge features customizable controls with remapping options and deactivating specific button inputs. Players can fine-tune aim with adjustable stick sensitivity and dead zones. Triggers are also adjustable for shorter travel distances, allowing for faster inputs in competitive games like first-person shooters.

The DualSense Edge also allows you to save multiple profiles on a single controller. This will help you to set ideal settings for specific games without needing to constantly change them. You can just pick a profile that is suitable for the game.

In terms of physical customization, Sony says that the DualSense Edge supports swappable stick caps and back buttons. There are three types of swappable stick caps: standard, high dome, and low dome. Meanwhile, the back buttons have two swappable sets: half-dome and lever. The stick modules are also replaceable.

As far as charging is concerned, the Edge comes with a USB Type-C braided cable. Sony says that the connector that houses the controller to lock it in is “much less likely to slip out at a crucial moment” during gameplay, so that’s welcome too. Lastly, it includes a carrying case that allows you to charge the controller via a USB connection while it is in the case.

When does it launch and how much does it cost?

There are a few details that Sony did not divulge. First off, we do not have a release date. Sony says that they will share more details on that “in the months ahead.” So it’s entirely possible that it does not even come out in time for the holidays.

We also do not know anything about the price. All we can do is speculate at the moment. The fully customizable Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 retails for $179.99. It seems likely that the DualSense Edge will retail for over $100 considering a standard DualSense controller retails for $69.99.
