What is Xbox Game Pass Core?

Xbox Game Pass Core, despite being called Xbox Game Pass, is simply a change in concept and name to what we know as Xbox Live Gold. You will still need that membership to play online with your friends.

However, there are certain elements that will change. From now on, we will no longer receive games on a monthly basis. Even though Microsoft is removing monthly free games as a perk, they are adding a collection of free games. This is the “core” of Game Pass Core.

Instead, players will get 36 different games for free. This collection of games will not change on a monthly basis. However, Xbox has already announced that they will add new games on a quarterly basis.

Some things will stay the same

Xbox Game Pass Core will continue to offer the benefits of Xbox Live Gold. We’re talking about discounts, deals, and access to free play days on select full games. Importantly, the cost of membership will not change. It will cost the same based on the country or region in which you live.

All of these changes are coming to all Xbox consoles. So if you’ve been thinking about picking up one of the titles on the list, or haven’t played it yet, get ready to give it a try!
