Wii, Nintendo DS Top August U.S. Sales Charts

Nintendo continued its streak of success in 2007 with the Wii and Nintendo DS both remaining the top selling video game systems for the month of August. So far this year, Wii has outsold PS3 and Xbox 360 every month. However, Wii sales were slightly down from last month, Xbox 360 saw a boost from its $50 price cut and PS3 lost momentum after nearly passing Xbox 360 in July. Here are the hardware charts in the U.S. for August 2007:

1. Wii – 403,600
2. Nintendo DS – 383,300
3. Xbox 360 – 276,700
4. PS2 – 202,000
5. PlayStation Portable – 151,200
6. PS3 – 130,600

Console parity was far more evident on the software side with Madden NFL 08 for Xbox 360 taking the top spot and the PS2 version taking the second spot. BioShock for Xbox 360 came in third, while Madden also made an appearance in the top 10 on PS3 at #4. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

and Mario Strikers Charged lead the way for Nintendo with the company publishing four of the top 10 selling games in August.
