Wii to Cost $212, Launches Dec. 2

We are getting conflicting reports this morning over the price and release date of the Nintendo Wii. Both Reuters and the Associated Press are reporting that Satoru Iwata, Nintendo’s president, said that the console would go on sale for $212 in Japan on December 2, 2006. That’s more than a week after the scheduled launch of PlayStation 3 on November 17, 2006.

IGN is reporting that the Wii will cost $250 in America, come with “one Wii remote, one nunchuck attachment, an AC adapter, an audio/video cable, a sensor bar, sensor bard stand, a Wii console stand and two batteries,” as well as a copy of Wii Sports. According to IGN, the system will launch two days after the PlayStation 3 in America, but Reuters disputes their report.
