Xbox 360 Failure Rate at Nearly 55 Percent

According to a survey conducted by industry leading video game magazine Game Informer, the Xbox 360’s failure rate is even higher than was once believed. The latest issue of the magazine pegs the failure rate at 54.2 percent, a staggeringly high number that reflects the failure of Microsoft to respond to widely reported hardware defects.

The survey, which polled over five thousand console owners, includes failure due to the commonly known “Red Ring of Death”, E74 or other hardware failure that may arise. This is compared to a (still high) 10.3 percent failure rate for the PS3 and 6.8 percent for the top selling Nintendo Wii. In other words, your Xbox 360 is five times more likely to fail than your PS3 and nearly eight times as likely to fail as the Wii.
