Yesterday we reported on the success that Nintendo saw over the Thanksgiving holiday, posting sales for the Wii that had topped previous high points for the company. Today, Microsoft announced far more impressive numbers for their Xbox 360 console and Kinect peripheral, nearing a million units sold for the entire Thanksgiving week.

The company managed to sell 800,000 Xbox 360 consoles over the 24-hour Black Friday period in the United States. Microsoft was aided by retailers that slashed the normally $300 4GB Xbox 360 with Kinect bundle to $200. The bundle deal helped to account for 750,000 Kinects sold in the U.S. for the week. The Xbox 360 managed 960,000 consoles sold for the entire week.
