Zombieland: Double Tap is getting a video game tie-in

There’s a game based on Zombieland and the upcoming Zombieland 2 coming out on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Zombieland: Double Tap Road Trip is a top-down twin-stick shooter set after the events of the first movie. It features local couch co-op for up to four players. It will let you play as your favorite heroes from the original and the upcoming sequel.

According to the developer, you’ll “use your special abilities, an arsenal of weapons and the essential Zombieland rules for survival to stay alive against huge numbers of uniquely grotesque and dangerous undead monstrosities in Zombieland: Double Tap Road Trip‘s story-based campaign mode, wave-based horde mode, and ongoing daily and weekly challenges.”

It looks like a cheap movie tie-in to me, but maybe it’ll surprise us? Still, it would probably be smart to wait for the reviews on this one.

For those interested in the movie, Zombieland: Double Tap hits theaters on October 18. The game launches just three days earlier on October 15.

Since they didn’t release a trailer for the game’s announcement, here’s a trailer for the movie:
