5 Best Sniping Games
Precisely picking off your targets from a great distance while they never suspect a thing feels extremely satisfying and fun in games that execute the sniper concept well. Here are five such sniping games that are insanely satisfying.
This list is not ranked in any order. The games in this list will have great sequels and spin-offs that are worth playing, and I will highlight them as well.
Sniper Elite 4
While Rebellion released their latest Sniper Elite 5, I consider the brilliant Sniper Elite 4 the most polished game in the franchise. This game is set in Nazi-occupied Italy and each mission takes place on a big, open-ended map. As in all other Sniper Elite games, you play as Karl Fairburn who’s a skilled sharpshooter. You can use the vast environments and terrain to your advantage in this game; its X-Ray Killcam never gets old.
Other games of the series
All the other Sniper Elite games might be worth your time if you like SE4. There’s no deep and interconnected story, so it really doesn’t matter what order you play them in.
The Zombie Army games are spin-offs to the Sniper Elite games, and they as just as fun as the originals. Check them out too.
Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts
Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts is a well-received game that even got a sequel recently: Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2. While these games certainly could be improved in many aspects, they don’t fail to be great sniping games. As the game’s name implies, the missions are contracts that you can undertake. There is no story that you have to follow and it allows for gameplay freedom.
Previous Sniper Ghost Warrior games
Other than the Contracts games, there are the original Sniper Ghost Warrior games. The reviews and opinions on these games are mixed, however. But if you’d like to take a chance, try the original Sniper Ghost Warrior game from 2010. I liked it personally. You can also play Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 and 3 if you like the first game.
Ghost Recon Wildlands
In my opinion, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands is one of the better Ubisoft games. This beautiful game takes place in Bolivia, where you and your squad are on your path to crumbling the cartel. The open world is huge and gorgeous. Like in the GTA games, you can drive vehicles and pretty much do anything. What I really like about Wildlands is its level of weapon customization and gunplay. You and your crew can equip lots of weapons. The sniping in this game is some of the best ever in a large-scale game like this. You can build a perfect rifle and hunt your enemies with deadly precision.

Ghost Recon Future Soldier is a linear third-person stealth game, but there really isn’t much sniping in it. It’s not completely nonexistent either, but it’s not as common in this. But it’s such a great game.
Metal Gear Solid V is one of the best stealth games ever. You can completely play the game as a stealth sniper and it’s insanely fun.
Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction is also another Ubisoft stealth title that is somewhat like a John Wick game. There’s not much sniping in this game though, but it’s an extremely good stealth title.
The Hitman games always had good sniping elements. The latest Hitman 3 and the previous rebooted games have the best sniping in the franchise. In Hitman, you can get a briefcase with a good sharpshooter and situate yourself in a vantage point and get ready to pick your enemies off like a bald eagle (See what I did there?).
More games like Hitman 2
Other than 2016’s Hitman and the latest Hitman 3, you can also play the brilliant Hitman Absolution, which has a beautiful story.
Also, Hitman Blood Money of 2006 is the best Hitman game, but it’s aged, obviously. But I suggest playing it if you like the other Hitman games.
Arma 3 is one of the biggest, most beautiful, and most realistic military simulators ever. And the game’s sniping is just brilliant. Everything is wonderful, from the guns to the bullet ballistics. Landing a hit will be difficult, but getting a kill after persisting so much feels incredibly satisfying. If you’re a military fan, this game is a must-play. The level of immersion is mind-blowing.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly is another realistic hardcore FPS game that has such wonderful gunplay. The sniping in this game is so satisfying and you won’t like to replace your rifle when you get used to sharpshooting.
