Titanfall 2

Five Games to Play While Waiting for Armoured Core 6

One of the best sci-fi FPS games of all time, Titanfall 2 is a story-driven shooter that’s rather short. Along with intense, epic gunfights as an infantry soldier, you can also pilot huge mechs that are appropriately named Titans.

Armed with overwhelming firepower and defenses, it’s a walk in the park to demolish enemy infantry in this all-powerful raging machine. When you combat other Titans, it’s challenging and epic.

You will be happy to know that the multiplayer of Titanfall 2 (one of the best aspects of the game) is still relatively active in 2023.

NieR: Automata

When I watched the trailers and gameplays of Armored Core 6, they reminded me of certain parts of NieR: Automata where you can pilot Mech units armed to the teeth. While most of the game does not feature piloting a mech, the entire game is excellent with its fantastic world design and epic, fast-paced combat system.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world, I think NieR will be a great game to play while waiting for Armored Core 6. Be sure to read our Nier: Automata review to see what all of the fuss is about.

Halo

Halo is possibly the greatest FPS franchise of all time and it features many, many facets of gameplay other than infantry shooter action. You can utilize heavy, futuristic vehicles in combat and it’s possible to use mechs as well.

While it’s not strictly a mech action game, no one can suggest that Halo is a game that’s not worth playing. It’s an excellent and fabulous sci-fi shooter that’s fun to play to this day. Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 remain some of the best original Xbox games.

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine

Warhammer 40k is a series featuring some of the most intimidating futuristic machines in media. Unfortunately, not many games of the franchise allow you to actually pilot the huge, loud, and terrifying Titans. With regret, I must tell you that Titans do not make a significant appearance in Space Marine, either.

Still, this game does feature Titans. Plus, the combat as a 9-foot-tall Space Marine certainly does feel heavy and loud enough to give the player the feel of engaging in combat in a mech.

Wolfenstein: The New Order and The New Colossus

Wolfenstein reboot games are excellent FPS games that are reminiscent of the DOOM games with their ultra-violence and intense, fun gameplay. In The New Order and its sequel, The New Colossus, you have the ability to encounter powerful, rugged robots powered by gasoline.

I have to say that these threatening mechs are some of the most hardcore I’ve ever seen, with their menacing look and their sheer loudness. The Wolfenstein games (perhaps excluding Youngblood) come highly recommended.

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon launches on August 25 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Pre-orders are open now at Amazon.
