Santa Monica Studios set a record with God of War: Ragnarök sales.
After what we saw in the review roundup we recently brought you here at Game Freaks 365, God of War: Ragnarök is a clear contender for Game of the Year. Every aspect of the game is polished to the last detail. It has meant that, in addition to the franchise’s popularity, copies of the game are selling like hotcakes. In fact, God of War: Ragnarök sales are so hot that it broke a record.
That’s right. PlayStation’s Twitter account let us know a few hours ago that God of War: Ragnarök sales have exceeded 5.1 million copies in its debut week. The number includes both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 sales. With this, it has broken not one but multiple records, both in the saga and in the history of PlayStation.
A sales success that was practically already written
God of War: Ragnarök is the “end” of a franchise that has accompanied us for more than a decade. Santa Monica Studios has presented us with a much more mature story that closes this new timeline in the life of Kratos. It’s a story accompanied by incredible gameplay, stunning graphics, dozens of accessibility options, and much more.
This has made the perfect mix to make God of War: Ragnarök a total success in sales. Over 5.1 million sales have been recorded in its debut week. With this, it has become the fastest-selling first-party launch on PlayStation. That’s all the more impressive given that it retails for $70 on PS4 and PS5.
And if that wasn’t enough, the Santa Monica Studios title has broken the record for the fastest-selling game in the franchise’s shortest time. Honoestly, we do not believe that these are the last records that this incredible game will break.
With The Game Awards on the horizon, the game is likely to become the game with the most awards won at the event. And it’s not crazy to think so, as the records speak for themselves. It’s yet another masterpiece from Santa Monica Studios. You can find God of War Ragnarok on Amazon.
