The Battlefield 3 beta went live today for a select group of gamers: those who pre-ordered the game on Steam or bought last year’s Medal of Honor Limited Edition on PC, PS3 or Xbox 360. Everyone else will have to wait until September 29 when it goes into open beta on all platforms.

There is some good news for those that have to wait. EA has announced that “you can play for as long as you want during the time of the beta. There will be no cap on how far you can rank up or what you can unlock,” according to their website. The beta will run until October 10. The full game launches October 25.
