Destiny 2 goes free-to-play today; Shadowkeep expansion out now

After first launching two years ago, Destiny 2 is going free-to-play on PC starting today.

The move to a free-to-play model coincides with the transition from Battle.net servers to Steam. As of today, the game is no longer playable on Battle.net. The free-to-play Steam version is being marketed as Destiny 2: New Light.

Also out today across PC, PS4, and Xbox One is a new paid expansion, Destiny 2: Shadowkeep. The new expansion includes a new raid, new quests, armor, weapons, a dungeon, and cooperative strikes, among other things.

There are reports that the game’s server is struggling under the pressure from the transition and the launch of the new expansion. If you’re thinking about jumping on, keep that in mind!
