Several Silent Hill games are in development, director of first film says in interview

Silent Hill

A new Silent Hill game could be closer than we think.

Konami is not in the best moment with many controversies, the departure of Kojima, and the lack of new IPs. But, the recent success of the Resident Evil remakes from Capcom has given new life to Konami. It opens the possibility to see new games or the return of old sagas.

This is what Christophe Gans, the director of the first Silent Hill film, has leaked in a way. In a recent interview, Gans “confirmed” that Team Silent has several Silent Hill productions under development as well as the remake of the classic Silent Hill 2.

The “confirmation” that many of us have been waiting for years.

Many leaks about Silent Hill have come out in the last few months. It was even rumored that Konami would finally hand over the license to Hideo Kojima. But, this time, rumors have emerged with much more weight than those already seen. Christophe Gans, director of the first Silent Hill movie, and director of the new film Return to Silent Hill has spoken a little more in a recent interview.

The French director, in an interview for the French media MaG, gave some statements that we know Konami didn’t like. Touching on the subject of the Silent Hill games during the interview, Christophe commented: “I know a bit about the [next Silent Hill game]. I work with the Silent Team, the original creators. I work in collaboration with Konami.”

“I’m working with the Silent Team, the original creators at Konami. There are several games in development as we speak, and there are several teams on it, with a big line of games, that will revive the franchise. I think they were really impressed of the success of the remakes of Resident Evil that are evidently exceptional games,” he added.

In addition to this, he also confirmed that different teams are involved in these new Silent Hill productions. Something that, in part, confirms past rumors, but without a doubt, it is a bombshell that should not have been made.

Silent Hill 2 Remake

Silent Hill fans are undoubtedly bursting with excitement after Gans’ “confirmation”. But, what was the icing on the cake was the confirmation of a new Konami remake.

During the interview, when asked about the games in development, Gans confirms that several studios other than Team Silent are working on them. The person interviewing Gans was astute and asked a trick question. He asked Gans in the form of a question if Bloober Team is working on Silent Hill 2 Remake. A rumor that has been buzzing around since the beginning of the year.

Gans clearly and concisely confirms with a “yes” that this is so. Therefore, we may see the announcement or release of a Silent Hill 2 remake in Q1 2023.

Whatever it is, we are glad to know that the Silent Hill game series is not dead yet. However, we all know that without Kojima behind it, Konami will have a very difficult job not losing the essence of the franchise.
