Final Fantasy VII Remake’s box art pays homage to the original

Square Enix has revealed the North American box art for Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Reminiscent of the original’s cover, which was released on PlayStation in 1997, the cover of the PS4 remake features protagonist Cloud Strife with his iconic sword, staring down the headquarters of the shadowy enemy, the tyrannical Shinra Corporation.

In addition to the new cover, Square Enix revealed Classic Mode, which will allow players to focus on tactics and strategy, issuing commands in combat instead of worrying about the action. It’s a nice nod to fans who are nostalgic for menu-based role-playing games.

Finally, a new gameplay video was just released in which Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith go head to head with a ferocious beast, Abzu. The fight highlights each characters’ unique battle style. We have it embedded below.

Square Enix announced at E3 2019 that Final Fantasy VII: Remake is coming to PS4 on March 3, 2020. The company showed off new gameplay at Tokyo Game Show a couple of weeks ago.
