These are some of the most promising upcoming Nintendo Switch games in 2023 or later. Some of these entries are highly anticipated and some others are lesser known. In any case, hopefully, you’ll get to know some great games to look forward to with this list.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Let’s start off with a highly anticipated video game. The sequel to the revolutionary open-world game Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was awaited by the fans since 2021, but we didn’t see a release. Now, Nintendo has announced that it will release in May 2023. It’s fairly certain that Tears of the Kingdom will live up to expectations and may even surpass the extremely high bar set by Breath of the Wild. We are hoping that it’ll be even more game-changing and inspiring. The only downside: it retails for $69.99.
Hollow Knight: Silksong
The first Hollow Knight game was nothing but astounding. Everything about the game was nearly perfect in all aspects. The combat was fine-tuned to perfection and had just the correct amount of difficulty. This Souls-like platformer had an exceptional story and its unusually beautiful world was refreshing to explore. Silksong is its upcoming sequel that still doesn’t have a definite release date. Originally, it was a DLC that was to be released for the original game, but the idea eventually, and fortunately, stretched into becoming a full game. Because of this transition from DLC to a game, the development cycle must have taken difficult turns, and that’s probably why there’s still no definite release date, despite being announced in 2019.
Metroid Prime 4
The next entry of the beloved Metroid Prime series will possibly put you back in the shoes of everyone’s favorite Samus Aran. Like the previous entries, this game is also an FPS with great, mind-boggling puzzles to complete. There’s speculation that the game will be set after the events of Metroid Dread, which was an excellent action platformer. In any case, it’s safe to assume that this will be a real treat for Metroid enthusiasts. A definite release date has not been announced yet, but it may release in 2023.
Hogwarts Legacy
I assume that many of you already know of the highly anticipated Hogwarts Legacy which is set in the Harry Potter universe. It’s already out for the PC and other consoles except for Nintendo Switch. And the patient Switch owners will be rewarded amply on July 25th with the release of Hogwarts Legacy. It continues to receive praise for its great RPG elements and the world, and overall, it’s a decent open-world game. You can pre-order it now.
Octopath Traveler 2
Octopath Traveler was a well-received and loved RPG of recent years. I especially love its art style and it’s possibly one of the best features of the game. The developers announced that the game will release really soon on February 9th. The PC release is out right now, and you can play it on that platform if you’d prefer. It’s safe to say that Octopath Traveler 2 is more beloved than the original, with current ratings of 10/10 on Steam. And there are many articles and videos on the internet explaining why it’s one of the best JRPGs of this year so far. It’s also a prime example of great turn-based combat. Basically, this game is like a dream game for any and all JRPG enjoyers.
