Former Nintendo President Worth $5 Billion

How much do you think a former president of Nintendo is worth? According to Forbes Asia, it’s nearly $5 billion. Hiroshi Yamauchi is the third richest person in Japan as the former president of Nintendo with a worth of $4.8 billion. He retired in 2002 as president of Nintendo and was replaced by the current president of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata.

Yamauchi oversaw Nintendo from 1949 when it was a card making company until 2002. He transformed Nintendo into a multi-billion dollar video game company, starting with arcades and then with their first home console, the NES. The GameCube launched shortly before his retirement in 2002. Now, five years after his retirement, Nintendo’s stock has tripled in the past year alone under Iwata’s leadership with Wii and DS.
