These are some of the greatest games similar to Blasphemous to play while waiting for the much-anticipated Blasphemous 2. For fans of side-scrolling platformers and methodical, difficult but rewarding Metroidvania combat systems, these games will be great additions.
Candle Knight
A little-known game, Candle Knight is a rather different platformer inspired by the Souls games and titles like Hollow Knight. You play as a little knight with a candle on top of his head, and its flame is one that’s very important to the game’s overall narrative and plot.
It’s a 2.5D game that combines aspects from 2D platformers and 3D games. With a methodical, slow combat system, a beautiful visual style, great platforming, and fun puzzles, this game will undoubtedly be a welcome addition to your library.

One of the most well-known and beloved indie games of all time, Hollow Knight is an incredibly polished game with smooth, fluid controls, exceptional lore, and an atmospheric, unique art style. Exploring the well-designed world while taking on powerful foes is incredibly fun and engaging; I can guarantee that you’ll love this masterpiece if you liked Blasphemous.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps / Ori and the Blind Forest
Ori and the Will of the Wisps as well as Ori and the Blind Forest are both magnificent games with some of the greatest visuals I’ve ever seen in indie games. It also tells a beautiful, engaging, and emotional story that will keep you intrigued for the entirety of the game. Its combat is smooth and fast-paced, too.
Shovel Knight
Shovel Knight boasts a beautiful pixel art style. It’s a great story about the titular shovel knight and his journey to seek his lost lover. Many players who’ve played this game say that it’s one of the best platformers they’ve ever played; I can vouch for that. With the unusual weapon that is the shovel blade, you can combat a variety of foes in the game’s beautiful world.
Salt and Sanctuary
Many fans of Salt and Sanctuary still believe that it’s the best of its kind. I certainly know that it’s indeed one of the best 2D action RPGs of this generation. You explore a dark and gloomy world filled with all manner of vicious creatures in this game. With hand-drawn, mind-blowing visuals and an engaging story, I cannot recommend Salt and Sanctuary enough.
