Horizon Forbidden West has a larger map with ‘virtually no loading screens’

Horizon Forbidden West

Last week, gamers got a first look at the upcoming open-world action RPG Horizon Forbidden West. Now, Guerrilla Games is diving deeper into the game world.

The game’s director, Mathijs de Jonge, recently shared new insight into Horizon Forbidden West. The game was first revealed just last week during the PlayStation 5 Future of Gaming event.

The game’s title refers to a “mysterious new frontier” for players to explore. It stretches across deserts, valleys, and ruined cities from Utah to the Pacific Ocean in the Western United States.

“Ever since the first game, we really wanted to make a world that is so beautiful that you just wanted to be there,” Mathijs de Jonge says. “When you boot up the game, you’re right there in the action.”

Thanks to the PS5’s solid-state drive, there will be “virtually no loading screens” within the game, even though the map will be larger than in the first game. And, of course, you can expect much more detailed graphics.

He also touches on some of the game’s enemies. Forbidden West will have a large variety of machines, “dozens” of them new. There are also new tribes. Some of them are peaceful, while others are hostile.

Guerrilla Games is aiming to release Horizon Forbidden West in 2021, exclusively on the PlayStation 5. Check out the video below!
