It looks like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War might be $70 on next-gen consoles.
An Amazon product page has the PlayStation 5 version of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War listed at $69.99. That, of course, is $10 more than standard edition games on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
In fact, the current $60 pricing regime dates back to the Xbox 360 when prices bumped up from $50. Most PlayStation 3 games also retailed for the premium $60 price. Meanwhile, Wii games retailed for $50, although many of those were ports of GameCube and PS2 games.
The fact that an Amazon product page exists with a $70 price tag is not definitive proof that Black Ops Cold War will indeed retail for that price on next-gen systems. However, it’s not just a ‘coming soon’ page. They are taking pre-orders at that price.
We’ve reached out to Activision for comment. They had not responded at the time of publication. We will update this story once we receive new information.
