Japanese Sales: December 19 – December 25, 2005

We don’t have software numbers yet, but hardware numbers have been made available across the Internet for the week of Christmas in Japan. As has been usual throughout the year, Nintendo DS leads the pack considerably, followed by PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 2, GameCube and so on. Santa apparently left Microsoft coal for Christmas as the Xbox 360 failed to pick up any steam whatsoever (it actually sold 3,000 fewer). Then again, that coal might be useful in creating the energy supply needed to run the 360. Here are your numbers:

1. DS: 597,628
2. PSP: 161,332
3. PS2: 97,475
4. GCN (+): 36,646
5. GBA SP (-): 35,764
6. GB Micro: 19,261
7. Xbox 360: 5,674
8. GBA: 906
9. Xbox: 141
