Magikarp is the featured Pokemon during the Pokémon Go Community Day in August.
August 2020’s Community Day event takes place on Saturday, August 8, 2020, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time. Bonuses include 3× Catch Stardust. Plus, incense activated during the event lasts for three hours, Niantic announced today.
During the event, trainers can look forward to Magikarp appearing more frequently in the wild. And if you’re lucky, you may even encounter a Shiny Magikarp. Plus, there’ll be a special one-time-purchase August Community Day Box that will be available. It features 30 Ultra Balls, an Elite Charged TM, six Star Pieces, and an Incense.
By the way, you can evolve Magikarp during the event or up to two hours after in order to get a Gyarados that knows Aqua Tail. To help you along the way and speed up evolution, event-exclusive Field Research tasks earn you some extra Magikarp candies.
My Take
Magikarp might not be the most beloved Pokémon around, but it should be worth the effort to evolve into Gyarados.
