Valve’s puzzle shooter Portal 2 has been a smash hit with consumers. The company’s president, Gabe Newell, dropped the triple platinum news to an audience at the Games for Change Festival (former Vice President Al Gore was the keynote speaker). However, it wasn’t stated whether the games “sold” were copies just shipped to retailers or sold to consumers. It’s fairly common for a publisher to claim they sold “X” number of titles, when they actually only shipped that many to stores. Platform-specific numbers were also unavailable.
