Richest Characters in Games

These are some of the richest characters in games. I will include only one character per game in order to keep things fresh, and I will not include protagonists of RPGs or sandbox games like GTA because they can be the richest person in their respective game worlds with grinding and questing.

In this list, we will focus on characters that are immensely wealthy in a way that even affects the protagonist.

Yoshitaka Mine (Yakuza 3)

Richest Characters in Games

Yoshitaka Mine, the patriarch of the Hakuho Clan and the interim Chairman of the Tojo Clan, is not known widely as the Treasurer of the Tojo for nothing. Despite his relatively young age, he’s an exceedingly successful businessman whose sources of income aren’t well-known. We can assume that some of them might not be strictly within the boundaries of the law, as he’s a criminal, after all.

All we know for certain is that he is wealthy enough to keep the entire Tojo Clan on its feet. It’s safe to say that Mine is a genius in terms of business and strategy. While he can be a cold and dangerous man, he is one of the more respectable villains in the series.

Lara Croft (Tomb Raider)

Richest Characters in Games

Lara may seem rather ordinary at first glance in terms of wealth, because of her choices of clothing and her lifestyle. But she’s the heir to the immense wealth of her father. This is the source of the funding for her adventures and archaeological expeditions.

Lord Croft, her father, might’ve been a better addition to this list if he was alive and a major character in the series. With Lara’s intelligence and ambitions, she puts the inherited money to great use.

Bruce Wayne (Batman: Arkham)

Richest Characters in Games

Like Lara, Bruce also inherited an extraordinary sum of money and resources after his parents tragically died. But Bruce is also a businessman who’s one of the planet’s wealthiest. He owns many things, and he doesn’t even know what some of those are.

Wayne Enterprises is a very successful business that continues to expand radically. He also uses this income to improve his arsenal of gadgets as Batman in order to make Gotham a better place.

The Illusive Man (Mass Effect)

The Illusive Man is powerful. He’s nearly untouchable, and he’s a person of importance and respect. Not much is known about him except that he’s one of the richest people in the entire galaxy.

What we do know about him is that he owns an insane number of businesses and even has his own private army. This mysterious overlord is truly one of the greatest villains in RPG history.

Andrew Ryan (BioShock)

Andrew Ryan was not just wealthy. He was a man with ambitions and views that were far superior to those around him. His philosophies were more advanced than what was believed in the world.

He built Rapture, a massive city underwater, that was based on his own ideologies. For building an entire city underwater, he must’ve been quite rich, indeed. I’d go as far as to say that he might’ve been one of the world’s wealthiest men, even before the building of Rapture.
