Super Mario Party update adds online modes on Nintendo Switch

Super Mario Party

Nearly three years after its release, Nintendo has confirmed that Super Mario Party is getting online multiplayer in a new update on Switch.

We can see in the trailer different game modes and minigames from the title. Furthermore, we see the new online additions that are available to all fans who own the game and an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription on their console.

Players now can play several game modes included in the game online with friends. The iconic Mario Party board game plus more than 70 minigames included in the game are now playable online with this free update. All players can also team up with friends and take action in the strategic 2 vs 2 Partner Party mode.

This mode was one of the most played game modes in Super Mario Party but due to the lack of online multiplayer. This game mode was only playable in LAN or on the same console with friends. So unless someone else in your household has a Switch, you probably didn’t get much use out of the game over the past year while in lockdown.

My Take

The addition of online game modes to Super Mario Party opens a new world to the game where you can play with friends or other players no matter where you are in the world. You just need an internet connection, the online subscription for the Nintendo Switch, and you’re good to go for hours of fun.
