Dead Island 2 is set in sun-kissed and vibrant Los Angeles. However, the beauty of the city is obstructed by all the blood and guts found everywhere around the city.
LA is a city featured in many games. For example, in Grand Theft Auto V we see a great recreation of the city. While Dead Island 2 has managed to recreate the city impressively, the zombie twist gives it such a horrid feel, and I think that’s what the developers were aiming for.
The art style aims to be colorful and vibrant instead of realistic. No matter how terrifying the zombies you encounter will be, the strange and grotesque beauty of the city combined with the blood and guts will give you a memorable experience.
Characters
There are multiple voiced characters for you to choose from and each of them has different personalities. Playing as every character might be a good way to experience the game from a different perspective. Your character has the special ability to partially become zombified, and slaughter the undead with your own hands.
With sets of skills for each character, you can build your Slayer in any way you see fit. Combining a wide array of skills and weapons is a fun way to experiment with the game.

One of the most impressive aspects of Dead Island 2 is its wide selection of melee and ranged weapons that are customizable to an insane degree. There are all sorts of guns that you can use.
Plus, you can utilize the customization to add various add-ons to your guns. They will give you different effects that will be useful in various situations. The possibilities of offense are nearly endless, as there are also many melee weapons you can craft and customize.
Overall, I think Dead Island 2 has one of the best upgrade and customization systems in modern gaming. You can experiment with various parts to create unconventional yet brutally powerful weapons.

Quests
While the story is not the most impressive part of the game, I think it was never meant to be so. Dead Island 2 is all about sandbox gameplay and zombie slaying. But there are a multitude of wonderful side quests that grant you valuable rewards among other things. Also, you can encounter many characters that are quite humorous. Despite the game being horror-themed, the humor of it is gold.
Combat
Another very important and extremely well-executed part of Dead Island 2, the combat is violent and brutal to a degree that would make the hardiest of players feel surprised. Your weapons can literally take apart enemies piece by piece and their bodies react realistically.
Honestly, there’s no game yet with this level of brutality when it comes to combat. The sound effects and visual effects combine to make it all exceptionally satisfying, and the zombie-slaying would never be boring.
