This handmade original PlayStation is the holy grail of transparent video game consoles.
In this day and age, we see few consoles or peripherals adopting that transparent look that all of us tech geeks love. But back in the late 1990s and early 2000s, clear casing technology abounded from Nokia phones to the iMac G3. But the best transparent cases, without a doubt, have been on video game consoles. Now there’s a transparent PS1.
One of my favorites has always been the FAT PS1 clear shell. Having one in the 90s was synonymous with being the coolest in your group. But one thing I didn’t like was that it wasn’t totally transparent. It was like a foggy clear shell. Thanks to a YouTuber, the dream of having a crystal-clear PlayStation console has come true!
Outstanding work
Many know the fans of retro games and consoles. However, few know about the modding movement of these consoles – from LED or LCD screens for Game Boy Advance to chips or connections to get HDMI outputs. But, many of these modders have one passion in common: consoles with transparent casings.
There is nothing cooler than making a mod of this style for your console. Therefore, on YouTube, we can find tens of thousands of modders doing this kind of modification to their consoles. One of the ones we have found recently has been BitHead1000, a retro console modder who has achieved something incredible: a crystal clear FAT PlayStation 1.
PlayStation 1 FAT modifications are among the least popular for those in the know. Even so, they are one of the most attractive. BitHead1000 has already made modifications to crystal clear console cases, but he says in the video that of the PS1 he always wanted to make this modification due to his dislike for the foggy shells that are available for the PlayStation 1.
BitHead1000 has set out to make a case completely from scratch for the console. That’s right, a handmade case that allows seeing all the internal components of the console to perfection. In addition, the YouTuber has commented that this modification has solved any cooling problems of the console thanks to the construction materials. Undoubtedly, this is an exceptional mod that deserves to be shared with you.
