Capcom Confirms Resident Evil 2 Remake

Resident Evil 2

Resident Evil 2 has long been a fan favorite in the venerable survival horror franchise. But while Capcom has been busy pumping out Resident Evil HD remasters for the past several years, Resident Evil 2 has been left out. First there were Resident Evil 4 and Code Veronic HD remasters. Then came the HD remaster of the Resident Evil remake, which was originally released on GameCube 13 years ago. Let’s also not forget the Resident Evil 0 remaster.

The wait is over, though. After teasing about the possibility of bringing back Resident Evil 2 on the Resident Evil Facebook page, Capcom has announced that they are remaking Resident Evil 2. The overhaul will give the game modern controls and possibly new camera angles.

“You’ve been telling us for years that you want Resident Evil 2 to be remade and we haven’t been able to make it happen… until now,” says Capcom producer Yoshiaki Hirabyashi in a YouTube video announcing the game.

Details are scarce and no gameplay footage or screenshots were shown but at least long-time fans have a good reason to be excited. We’ll share more information on the Resident Evil 2 remake once it becomes available.
